May 25: AGM, Elections and BBQ

- We need a quorum of 33% of the membership (27 members) to vote in the 2012-13 Executive Committee, as well as any other decisions that may require a vote. The Executive has elected to provide a proxy to ensure we have the necessary votes to make decisions at the Annual General Meeting. Complete the attached form and return it to wspc.treasurer@gmail.com to have your vote counted at the meeting.

May 16: Chris Gray and Daryl Godkin will be sharing their experience in the Masai Mara in Kenya photographing the great migration.

May 2 : Pierre Richard will be giving a presentation on the Arctic, “A Photographic Journey Through the Northwest Passage.”  See Poster.

Mike Karakas will be giving a 10 minute presentation on “Photograph the transit of Venus” (the planet not the woman!) which occurs on June 6.

April 18:- In keeping with our theme, "What Makes A Great Image" Chris and Andrew have offered to give a review of members' images.  Chris and Andrew, from Photo Central have been Judges for the MCC and have extensive experience as photographers and printers.  Big or small, landscape to portraits, they've seen it all.

December 14 : Christmas Party Member's Night at Pixels 2.1.  Members Night is an opportunity for members to show 5-7 images in a set. Spouses and significant others welcome.

December 7: Richard Willacy - What makes a Great Image. Richard will share HDR photos from his recent trip to Ireland. Next, Peter Blahut, who is a long time member of the WSPC, would like to share with you his images from the book "Asessippi to Zed Lake, A Guide to Manitoba's Provincial Parks." Click to see poster. Peter Blahut is a Winnipeg landscapes and wildlife photographer with a passion for portraying the natural landscape in a way that is visually strong and compelling.  His photos have recently been featured in Northroots magazine and in the book “Asessippi to Zed Lake, A Guide to Manitoba’s Provincial Parks.”

One-on-One Image Review

A critique table is available 1/2 hour prior to each of our Regular Meetings (the first Wednesday each month).

How it works: Bring an image that you would like critiqued and visit the table at the front of the room. You will be provided with feedback on a one on one personal basis about composition, colour, execution, framing or whatever.

Red River Exhibition Photo Contest 2012           

The third annual photo competition plans are underway. We have a new lower entry fee of $2.50 per image plus the cash prizes have been increased thanks to our sponsors.

WSPC has been invited to join the MCC to Jim Taylor's hobby farm near Ashern. Steep Rock is also near there, so if you want to take sunset photos, this would be a fantastic location for that.
