I've been a member of the WSPC since 1990. In my spare time, I pursue my love for the outdoors through hiking, camping, canoeing, and kayaking, and especially through photography...I take my camera everywhere. I have a particular passion for nature photography; I think of my images as "Intimate Portraits of Nature". Some of my favorite photography places are: Churchill MB, Great Sand Hills area SK, Yellowstone and Utah. See peterblahut.ca
I received my first camera at age five but got seriously involved in this wonderful hobby at age 19. As the years have gone by I have finally decided that mother nature is by far my favourite subject and I photograph her as often as I can. I purchased my Nikon D70 in February 2005 and got involved in Digital Infrared photography soon thereafter. This adds a surreal look and feel to landscapes. Below are a few examples of my foray into the world of IR photography.
Like many people, my interest in photography started as a means of recording the places I had been and the things I had seen. That is still my main interest but, through the club and the catalyst of other photographers, I have the opportunity to go to new places and to see new things that I otherwise would have missed. Hopefully I will learn from the presenters, the members and image reviews so that my eyes and my brain open wider and my photography improves.
I started photographing to keep a photo journal. My main interests are landscape, architecture and flowers. I recently found a new passion for macro photography and seeing the world in a new way.
My photography is the result of something catching my eye, and a frantic rush to record the event. I am greatly influenced by natural light and color, and try to capture the moment as I experienced it. I often paint from my photographs to depict the unique beauty of the Canadian prairies and the lake country. See home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~johnson2
My main passions are hiking in the great outdoors and amateur astronomy. I consider myself to be a naturalist by day and by night by combining the beauty of our natural world and the universe. Using photography as my medium,I am able to share this appreciation with others. See more at www.sharedvisionphotography.ca
I joined the WSPC in 2006 when I bought my first SLR, a used Nikon D100. I enjoy travel and photographing nature, flowers, people, animals and those special moments that only a good photo can capture and preserve forever. The WSPC is a great way to learn about the art of photography. The guest speakers are inspirational and our Image Review Nights are especially helpful to amateur photographers like myself.
I am an eclectic photographer and take pictures of a variety of subjects. I work in the graphic design field and focus on utilizing that knowledge in my photography. I recently completed a 365 photo project and am now beginning a 52 week portrait project. See more at: http://www.karenia.ca/
I have always loved taking pictures and capturing special moments in time. I enjoy photographing people most, especially when they are in motion, as I like capturing their inner character and vibrance. See more at http://www.flickr.com/photos/lainey_o/
Photography brings me a lot of pleasure. Cameras seem to act like magnets and are a way to meet people to discuss and share a common interest. While learning the technical aspects of photography is interesting, creating an image that speaks to other people makes it all worthwhile. See more at www.sharedvisionphotography.ca
I am one of the founding members of the WSPC in 1982. My main interest is orchids but usually photograph landscapes.
Shirley Roy (October 22, 1939 -January 11, 2007)
Shirley was one of our original members who unfortunately is no longer with us. She enjoyed photographing nature, abstracts and people. We are continuing to show Shirley’s images in memory of her.
I have been a member since 1999 and continue to expand my knowledge and skills through image review nights, field trips and presenters at the club. My interests in photography include nature, landscapes, architecture, portraits, close-ups and, more recently, working with digital images in photoshop. See http://web.mac.com/edsawatzky
I recently joined the WSPC so I could learn how to take & make better pictures. Generally, I am just a ‘drive by shooter’ that likes to take snapshots of what I have been doing and where I’ve been… whether its camping, gardening, or taking road trips. I have learned a lot from the Club members and have a lot still to learn. The WSPC is a great group of people that put a lot of effort into helping fellow members open their eyes and minds.
I have been a member for several years and have been encouraged to look at a variety of photographic subjects and locations through the Winnipeg South Photo Club. My favourites are nature and florals, but also enjoy photographing anything from architecture to landscapes on my travels.
Anil is a long time member of the Winnipeg South Photo Club. Anil's strong, graphic, photographic style has won him many awards and photo contests.
